Dragon Scales

This hanging scroll made of scales of glass/wood veneer panels with three-dimensional graphic shadows takes advantage of the characteristics of the panels developed by AGC Asahi Glass, known for their chemically strengthened glass. Pay attention to how the expressions of the panels and the graphics changing depending on the angle from which you look at them. Each small panel creates a wholly different impression than would one large panel.

Ito Soichi

Ito is a CMF designer with a background in machine engineering and industrial design. After working as a designer for Nissan and Canon, Ito now works as a freelance designer with a focus on perceived quality and consulting with companies on mass production and color management. At Nissan, Ito worked on the K12 March, the Z34 Fairlady Z, and at Canon on the color planning and overall color strategy of the Ixy series. Since beginning his own practice, Ito produced the exhibit Color Hunting at 21_21 Design Sight, as well as consulting on several design products.
