This high precision abrasive is essential in mirror-finishing of silicon wafers, chemical mechanical polishing, polishing hard disks and other high-tech industrial manufacturing. Recently, Fujimi has branched out to the development of abrasive processes for material such as metals, ceramics, and resins used in LED displays and mobile devices.

CORROSION

Until now the value of an abrasive was in how shiny it could make an object. With 'Corrosion' the collaborators did the opposite and instead created objects with "noise" such as texture and rust. They did so by polishing corroded aluminum after treating it with alumite. The result is texture becomes the antithesis to polish, creating an incomplete expression of beauty.
